In 1971, Henk Geerdink took me in search of my helpers. I was unable to name anyone in Masseik, but Henk knew of one who had been active. We arrived at the home of Henri Brouwers. Henri spoke no English so I let Henk chat away. After much chatter, Henri fumbled through a file of papers and suddenly burst into a great smile. He had found my name in midst of the list of evaders he had helped! I had found another Helper! Once it was confirmed that he was the man who put us on the tram, I asked if he remembered the girls who took us to Liege. To my delight, he identified one of them.
My false Identification Papers. The photo was carried in my escape kit for just this purpose. My name was now Albert Lebeau, and I was an Insurance agent and lived in Liege.
